THE PIANO

The piano is a musical instrument which is played by means of a keybord. It is also used in Classical for solo performances, and accompaniment.... the piano is also very popular  to compose. Although it isn`t portable and it is often expensive, and is named one of the most familiar leading world musical instruments in the world.

Pressing a key on the piano's keyboard causes a felt covered hammer to strike steel strings. The hammers rebound, and allowing the strings to continue vibrating at their resonant frequency. These vibrations are transmitted to a bridge to a sounding board that couples the acoustic energy to the air so that it can be heard as sound. When the key is released, a damper stops the string's vibration.

The piano is founded on earlier technological innovations. The first string instruments with struck strings were the hammered dulcimers. The invention of the modern piano is credited to Bartolomeo Cristofori of Padua, Italy, who was employed by Prince Ferdinand de Medici as the Keeper of the Instruments.

There are two types of piano. Like:
-Vertical pianos:
Spinet: spinets are the smallest pianos.
Console: it is larger than the spinet, this type of piano comes in various styles and finishes.
Studio: This is the kind of piano you see in music schools and music studios.
Upright: This is the tallest among the vertical pianos, this is the type of piano your great  grandparents or grandparents used to play

-Horizontal pianos:
Petite Grand: This is the smallest one among the horizontal pianos.
Baby Grand: A very popular type of piano. it is a popular choice because of its sound quality, aesthetic appeal and affordability.
Medium Grand: it is Larger than the baby grand.
Concert Grand: this is the largest of all the grand pianos.

DURANGO

Hello people!

The Basque Country is a small country but there are a lot of important places, like the university of Deusto.., or natural beauties  like the Urgull mountain, Txindoki etc... however museums like Chillida leku, Zumalakarregi also exist. But did you know that also in the Basque Country there are also markets? For example the market of Durango is located in Bizkaia and it is one of the most interesting markets. This market is held every year from the 4 of December to 8 of December. You can go to the market from 10:30 to 20:00 and you don't have to pay for it. This year it's done the 44. edition.

A short history of the Durango market:

The first market for Basque books and Basque CDs of Durango was held in 1965. It was one of the first activities organized for Gerediaga Elkartea. In those years of Franco's dictatorship, the principal goal was to announce the books and discs produced in Euskal Herria. In addition,  it was also a place of meeting for the different sectors of the cultural Basque activity.

The I. Durangoko Euskal Liburu eta Diska Azoka was celebrated in the portico of Santa Maria, and was not in December, but on November 1. In this era Durango was brought over by the baserritarras of Durango to the market that one was organizating every Saturday. The first market was inaugurated in Saturday, for what finished the weekly market, the organizers had to mount in two three hours everything for the inauguration of the market. The first market had 19 participants.

The budget of the I. Durangoko Basques books and CDs was 100.000 ESP.
In 1966, 680 books and 179 discs were sold only during the first day of the market.
In 1968, Euskaltzaindia organized the final of the championship of bertsolaris in Durango.
In 1969, 22 stands were mounted and put to the sale on 870 books and 138 discs.

Between 1 974 and 1996 the market was celebrated in the square of the market.

Most of the editions of Basque books and CDs market of Durango was celebrated in the square of the market, specifically, from 1974 to 1996.
The work of the Gerediaga elkartea continued giving good results and the square of the market became small; so from 1996 on, a big tent held  the market during the following years, until the year 2003 it was an instaled emplacement.

This is the history of the fantastic Durango's market. If you are going to do a visit to the Basque Country do it in December because that way you can visit this fantastic market.
