THE PIANO

The piano is a musical instrument which is played by means of a keybord. It is also used in Classical for solo performances, and accompaniment.... the piano is also very popular  to compose. Although it isn`t portable and it is often expensive, and is named one of the most familiar leading world musical instruments in the world.

Pressing a key on the piano's keyboard causes a felt covered hammer to strike steel strings. The hammers rebound, and allowing the strings to continue vibrating at their resonant frequency. These vibrations are transmitted to a bridge to a sounding board that couples the acoustic energy to the air so that it can be heard as sound. When the key is released, a damper stops the string's vibration.

The piano is founded on earlier technological innovations. The first string instruments with struck strings were the hammered dulcimers. The invention of the modern piano is credited to Bartolomeo Cristofori of Padua, Italy, who was employed by Prince Ferdinand de Medici as the Keeper of the Instruments.

There are two types of piano. Like:
-Vertical pianos:
Spinet: spinets are the smallest pianos.
Console: it is larger than the spinet, this type of piano comes in various styles and finishes.
Studio: This is the kind of piano you see in music schools and music studios.
Upright: This is the tallest among the vertical pianos, this is the type of piano your great  grandparents or grandparents used to play

-Horizontal pianos:
Petite Grand: This is the smallest one among the horizontal pianos.
Baby Grand: A very popular type of piano. it is a popular choice because of its sound quality, aesthetic appeal and affordability.
Medium Grand: it is Larger than the baby grand.
Concert Grand: this is the largest of all the grand pianos.

DURANGO

Hello people!

The Basque Country is a small country but there are a lot of important places, like the university of Deusto.., or natural beauties  like the Urgull mountain, Txindoki etc... however museums like Chillida leku, Zumalakarregi also exist. But did you know that also in the Basque Country there are also markets? For example the market of Durango is located in Bizkaia and it is one of the most interesting markets. This market is held every year from the 4 of December to 8 of December. You can go to the market from 10:30 to 20:00 and you don't have to pay for it. This year it's done the 44. edition.

A short history of the Durango market:

The first market for Basque books and Basque CDs of Durango was held in 1965. It was one of the first activities organized for Gerediaga Elkartea. In those years of Franco's dictatorship, the principal goal was to announce the books and discs produced in Euskal Herria. In addition,  it was also a place of meeting for the different sectors of the cultural Basque activity.

The I. Durangoko Euskal Liburu eta Diska Azoka was celebrated in the portico of Santa Maria, and was not in December, but on November 1. In this era Durango was brought over by the baserritarras of Durango to the market that one was organizating every Saturday. The first market was inaugurated in Saturday, for what finished the weekly market, the organizers had to mount in two three hours everything for the inauguration of the market. The first market had 19 participants.

The budget of the I. Durangoko Basques books and CDs was 100.000 ESP.
In 1966, 680 books and 179 discs were sold only during the first day of the market.
In 1968, Euskaltzaindia organized the final of the championship of bertsolaris in Durango.
In 1969, 22 stands were mounted and put to the sale on 870 books and 138 discs.

Between 1 974 and 1996 the market was celebrated in the square of the market.

Most of the editions of Basque books and CDs market of Durango was celebrated in the square of the market, specifically, from 1974 to 1996.
The work of the Gerediaga elkartea continued giving good results and the square of the market became small; so from 1996 on, a big tent held  the market during the following years, until the year 2003 it was an instaled emplacement.

This is the history of the fantastic Durango's market. If you are going to do a visit to the Basque Country do it in December because that way you can visit this fantastic market.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hello people!

Today I'm going to explain the christmas of different places.
In France, they celebrated in Christmas Eve, where French children leave their shoes at the fireplace for Santa Claus to fill them with gifts. In the next morning they discover that in addition they have a lot of sweets, fruits and presents. In churches they make plays of the birth of Christ, with actress and puppets.

In Italy, they celebrate the festivals of Merry Christmas eight days before, and they continue with the magithey. Before  Christmas Eve they read a text and then they finish the day with a big dinner with a cake called "panettone" as a dessert. In the houses they put a thing called "Urna del Destino" and gifts are randomly removed. At night they put candels around the birth, they say prayers and the childs recite some poems. And in the 6th of January, one witch leave gifts to children who have been good and coal to bad childs like the Olentzero and Three Magi here.

In USA, the Christmas are different between some states, because the inhabitants of each country have different customs. In Pennsylvania, the Moravians construct a landscape called "putz" under the Christams tree, while the germans receive gifts for the Belsnickle, and struck with his rod if they behaviour has been bad. In the South, they shoot firearms to greet the distant neighbors. In Alaska they carry for the door to door one small star on the top of a pole, which follows "los hombres de Herodes" to caught. In the door of tropical houses they put tropical pineapple, symbol of hospitality.

Canada's Christmas and USA's Christmas are similar although, in some provinces they have different customs. The skimos celebrate a big winter festival called "Sinck Tuck" which consisted in a festival with a lot of dances and gifts; in the Labrador, they kept turnis since summer to give them to children. And in Nova Scotia, in all the mornings of Christmas they sing Breton and Basque songs and carols.

In the Basque Country, I hope that everybody knows how are Christams celebrate. At Christmas Eve and Christmas Day the all families meet in one house and they eat a lot of things, and in Christmas Eve the Olentzero came and give to childs a lot of presents, like the Three Magic in 5th of January.

As you can see there are a lot of different ways of celebrating Christmas, depending on the country. In my opinion the best Christmas are held in the Basque Country.

I WISH YOU ALL A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

TWO INVENTIONS

What are the two inventions that have contributed most to make our lives easier?

Hello people!

Today I am going to speak about two inventions that have contributed most to make our lives easier.

For me the light bulb and the computer are the two most important inventions of my life.

The Light bulb: We all know that Thomas Edison was the inventor of a light bulb in 1879 but the first electric light was made in 1800 by Humphry Davy.

I choose the light bulb because without it we could not see when it's night, or we could not read. Also now use for work in school with the electrified. And for me was very interesting to work with electrified. Neither exist the flashlight. And the nights would be boring because we couldn`t see anything.

There are diferent types of light bulbs like:

-Electrical terms: the important electrical operating characteristics of a light are yoltage and wattage.

-Incandescent lamps: these are often called General Lighting Service lamps and are the least efficient. the will produce about 15 lumes of light for every watt of electricity used.

-Compact Fluorescent Lamps: these lamps will produce the same light as a incandescent lamp but require only 20% of the power.

-Compact Fluorescent wattage/Incandescent wattage: the twiat bulbs are more efficient and smaller than the u shaped bulbs and will fit into any light that uses an incandescent bulb.

-Halogen bulbs: these lamp will produce about 35 lumens per watt.

-Fluorescent tubes: these lamps are very efficient and it produce about 70 lumens per watt, and they have a life of about 10.000 hours.

-Led Lighting: future development could see the output of 200 watts per lumen.

This is the estructure of a light bulb:

Outline of Glass bulb
Low pressure inert gas (argon, neon, nitrogen)
Tungsten filament
Contact wire (goes out of stem)
Contact wire (goes into stem)
Support wires
Stem (glass mount)
Contact wire (goes out of stem)
Cap (sleeve)
Insulation (vitrite)
Electrical contact

You could speak about different types of light bulbs nowadays.

The Computer: Was invented by Charles Babbage. I choose the computer because was very interesting machine. with the computer you can speak with your friends, upload fhotos and you can do your own blog. if you haven`t know how do you have to do exercises you can`t asked to your firends. You play games. but this is to pas the time. Also you cant take the imporafation you can`t find in a diccionary to do ther works.

There are diferent types of computers nowadays like:
-Desktop computers: The most common computer used in today`s world are the desktop computers which were specially bulit for personal use be it at home or work I think, because these computers are everywhere like; from one office, to your hause, schools, universities...

-Workstations: I think that a workstation is a specialized, single user computer that typically has more power than a desktop computer. these machines are most of the work of scientist.

-Notebook computers: Notebook computers is approximately the size of an 8.5-11 inch notebook and can easily fit inside a briefcase. In my opinion I think that these computers are used in eateries, cafes, at the work place and in aducation institutions.

-Tablet computers: Tablet PC´s are some of the more ever developments in portable, full featured computers.

-Handheld computers: these personal compueters are computing devices and I think that it can enter in your hand.

-Smart phones: these type of computers are phones that have a processing unit attached to act as a handheld computer.

-Supercomputers: I think that as a name said are the most fastest, and expensive modern computer systems.

-Mainframe computers: these type of computers are used in large organization like banks, where many people frequently need to use the same data.

-Minicomputers: are small sied computers which their capabilities between the range of a personal desktop computer and a mainframe.

JAZZ INSTRUMENTS AND JAZZ MUSICIANS

Hello people!!
In this blog I`m going to speak about different types of instruments of Jazz and about Jazz musicians.

JAZZ MUSICIAN

If I make a question about Jazz musicians, I am sure you will answer something about Louis Armstrong and I will not be surprised, because he is one of the best Jazz musicians.

Louis Armstrong:
Coming to prominence in the 1920s as an innovative cornet and trumpet player, Armstrong was a foundational influence on jazz, shifting the music's focus from collective improvisation to solo performers. With his distinctive gravelly voice, Armstrong was also an influential singer, demonstrating great dexterity as an improviser, bending the lyrics and melody of a song for expressive purposes. He was also greatly skilled at scat singing, or vocalizing, using syllables instead of actual lyrics.

DIFERENT TYPE OF INSTRUMENTS

These are the most important instruments:

-Trumpet: The trumpet is a musical instrument with the highest register in the brass family. Trumpets are among the oldest musical instruments. They are constructed of brass tubing bent twice into an oblong shape, and I like it more than the others in the brass family.
-Saxophone: The saxophone is a conical-bored trasposing musical instruments considered a member of the wooding family. Saxophones are usually made of brass and are played with a single-reed mouthpiece similar to that of the clarinet.
-Clarinet: The clarinet is a musical instrument in the woodwing family. The instrument has an approximately cylindrical bore, and uses a single reed. And probably you will prefer the clarinet to the saxophone because for me it is easier to play.
-Piano: The piano is a musical instrument which is played by means of a keyboard and the piano is also popular as an aid to composing and rehearsal. It is composed by a sound box, to which one has added a keyboard, by means of which percuten the ropes of steel with hammers lined with felt producing the sound. And a lot of people have a piano in the house but it takes a lot of space from my point of view.
-Trombone: The trombone is a musical instrument in the brass family. Like all brass instruments, the sound is produced when the player’s vibrating lips cause the air column inside the instrument to vibrate. But I have tried to play the trombone and it was very tiring.

-Double Bass: The double bass, also called the upright bass or contrabass, is the largest and lowest-pitched bowed string instrument in the modern symphony orchestra. Double basses are constructed from several types of wood, including maple for the back, spruce for the top, and ebony for the fingerboard. It`s like a guitar but the guitar is louder and I like it more.
-Drums: The drum is a member of the percussion group of music instruments, technically classified as membranophone. The shell almost invariably has a circular opening over which the drumhead is stretched, but the shape of the remainder of the shell varies widely. It`s very difficult to play. It is an instrument that I like more than the other ones.

There are some other instruments for Jazz but they aren´t so important. Like:
-Conga
-Banjo
-Tuba
-Cornet
-Guitar
